It’s currently 70°F in Alabama, so we’re basically done with winter anyway. Not that we even had a winter this year, aside from that one weekend it snowed, which doesn’t really count for me because I wasn’t even in town for it. I’m kind of bummed that the seasons are already changing, mostly because I’m REALLY not ready for summer again. If we could just pause, have some Blood Orange Palomas, and let me mentally prepare myself for the inevitability of summer in Alabama, that would be FAB. 🙂
How GORGEOUS are these things!? I am so so so in love with the color. If I were a cocktail, I would totally be this one. It’s pink, it’s fizzy, and it’s pretty easy to throw together. Plus these palomas are the perfect thing to go with your chips, queso, guac, and salsa.
The recipe below makes about 4 cocktails, but it can easily be doubled or tripled depending on the crowd you’re serving. You’ll just need a loooot of blood oranges. I think you could also probably sub in some kind of bottled blood orange juice or blood orange soda if you can find it. I haven’t tried that, but I imagine you could do without the simple syrup and/or bubbles if you go that route.
- 4 blood oranges
- 2 limes
- 2-3oz simple syrup
- ½ cup tequila
- 1½ cups club soda
- Additional blood oranges slices and lime wedges for garnish
- Juice blood oranges; pour liquid through a fine mesh sieve and into a small pitcher. Juice limes; add to blood orange juice.
- Add simple syrup. (adjust as needed!) Add tequila and club soda.
- Fill four short tumbler glasses with ice. Fill and garnish with blood orange slices, lime wedges, or even a sprig of rosemary!
