It’s Thursday and this Holiday Sangria is going to get us through to the weekend, friends!
I know what you’re thinking. That’s quite a bit of fruit. But you have to buy a whole bag of cranberries, so we might as well use them all, right?
This sangria is so simple and easy, but there is so much good stuff going on! I love all of these flavors together. It’s where autumn and winter meet, and it’s perfect for December brunch or holiday parties or just a girls’ night.
I used a bottle of dry Riesling, but you can literally use anything you want. I think a Pinot Grigio would also be good here. Something dry and crisp because we’re also adding sparkling apple juice, which will give it some sweetness.
SPARKLING APPLE JUICE
I wanted this sangria to have lots of apple flavor, so I added a 10 oz bottle of Martinelli’s Sparkling Apple Juice. You could also use sparkling cider or apple juice, but I recommend something bubbly. Bubbly is better. (If you’re looking for something even bubblier, you can check out my Bubbly Winter Citrus Sangria.)
Obviously you don’t have to cram as much fruit into your pitcher as I did, but where’s the fun in that? I used whole and halved cranberries, sliced apples, and pomegranate arils as my main flavors. I threw in some sliced oranges for a little citrus flavor, and also tossed in a few cinnamon sticks.
HOW TO SERVE
You can technically serve this right away, but the more you let it sit, the more flavor it will have. I’d let it sit in your fridge for 30 minutes to an hour before you plan to serve it.
Use a ladle to spoon some fruit into each glass, and then the liquid! Once it’s not quite so full, you can pour.
Simple as that! We always do brunch on Christmas morning following our gift-opening festivities, and I’m thinking I might have to make this Holiday Sangria again. It’s perfect for celebrating holidays or literally anything you’ve got coming up in the winter months!
