I started baking in college, in 2011, by creating personalized birthday cakes for my friends, who started calling those cakes bethcakes. And the baking has only grown from there! This little corner of the internet is my place to share recipes and this creative outlet of mine. I hope you’ll browse through the site, which covers everything from classic desserts, fun experiments and trends, my current cravings, and (of course) Southern favorites.
This blog is my place for that. My little outlet in the wide, open world of the internet… from my tiny corner of life in Birmingham, Alabama.
Baking might seem intimidating, but let me assure you.
It doesn’t have to be! Anyone can choose a recipe and give it a try. I’ve always envied cooks who can toss everything in a skillet and come up with something incredibly delicious. A recipe for a cake might be intimidating in the same way, but it’s just like anything else. Once you try a few and you understand the way the ingredients work together, it’s just following a formula, following directions on a little map where your final destination is a delicious layer cake with dreamy buttercream.
Easy, approachable recipes that are actually enjoyable to make.
That’s my goal here! Even if you aren’t an experienced baker, I hope you can try any recipe on my site and end up with something you’re proud of. Or at least something delicious. The recipes here might range from beginner to intermediate, some might be short and some might have a lot of steps, but I hope they always seem approachable enough for you to give it a go!
